Maria Elli Doufexi Kaplani is an experienced sociologist, with a decade of research focused on human rights, including gender equality and LGBTQI+ issues. She serves as a Senior Researcher at KMOP–Social Action and Innovation Centre, one of Greece’s oldest CSOs dedicated to social impact. Through research and innovation, KMOP tackles pressing social issues, shapes public debate, and influences policy nationally and internationally. Over her 7 years at KMOP, Maria Elli has contributed to more than 30 research projects, including an initiative which provided data for the development of the National Committee for LGBTQI+ Equality. In January 2024, she co-organized and led an International Conference at the European Parliament, aimed at preventing GBV among youth through mobile school counseling desks.
