Nicu Ștefănuță is a progressive Romanian politician who has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament since 2019. Running as an independent for the 2024 European elections, Nicu Ștefănuță is now part of the Greens Group, serving also as Vice-president of the European Parliament.
He is a full member of the Committee on Budgets (BUDG) and the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE), and a substitute member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI).
Furthermore, he serves as a full member of the Delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly and a substitute member of the Delegation to the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee and the Delegation for relations with the United States.
Among his areas of interest as a MEP are youth rights, climate change, housing, energy efficiency, mental health, foreign policy, European budget, and European rights. Nicu Ștefănuță is a strong advocate of the rights of the LGBTI community, being a member of the European Parliament’s LGBTI Intergroup.
