When it comes to domestic and home care, women carry most of the load - unpaid or underpaid, and largely unrecognised. This panel will focus on how this impacts gender equality, highlighting key challenges such as mental workload, freedom of choice, gender stereotypes, and migrant women’s rights integration. We will highlight recent progress, but also hear first-hand about the issues we still need to overcome - including the lack of recognition for migrant domestic workers and family carers. Using EIGE’s latest findings, we’ll expose the link between unequal care responsibilities and the broader gender gap. And we’ll try to identify solutions.
This panel is jointly organized by the European Federation for Family Employment and Home Care (EFFE), Eurocarers and PICUM.
