Marge Unt is a Professor of Comparative Sociology at the Institute of International Social Studies at Tallinn University, where she has been involved in leading and participating in numerous international research projects, including EXCEPT, EUROSHIP, Mapineq, and LEARN. She has served as an advisor to government departments in Estonia, Kyrgyzstan, Qatar, and Peru, and is a member of several national and international review boards. In addition to her research roles, she is the editor of Studies of Transition States and Societies (STSS). Prof. Unt’s research focuses on life course dynamics, particularly youth transitions to adulthood, motherhood penalties in the labour market, and late career trajectories. Her work explores the role of social networks, institutions, and norms in shaping life trajectories, with the aim of understanding and addressing cumulative inequalities and promoting well-being.
