In two rounds of discussions based on the core thematic strands, we kick off the second Gender Equality Forum 2024!

First, we dive into the question, where do we stand with gender equality in Europe, at the beginning of a new EU legislature term? We also discuss the latest Index results with MEP Robert Biedron, former Chair of the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) in the European Parliament and Corinne Dettmeijer-Vermeulen, member of the Committee on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

In the second round we focus on how to tackle gender-based violencein the EU: how to ensure women and girls can live a life free of violence? This round kicks off with a conversation with EIGE Team Leader Cristina Fabre reminding the audience of the key findings of the EU Gender-based Violence survey results, which Eurostat, the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) and the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) launched on 25 November. We then discuss the findings with Maria-Andriani Kostopoulou, President of the Group of Experts on Action against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (GREVIO) and Anna Collins-Falk from the Swedish Gender Equality Agency.
