The green business sector has good growth opportunities and an important role in a sustainable society. We need new business opportunities, more growth and more entrepreneurs in the green business sector. In order to achieve this, women and men must have equal opportunities as entrepreneurs – and this is what LRF’s Gender Equality Academy is working for! -- Federation of Swedish Farmers report on gender equality in the green business sector

The Gender Equality Academy, spearheaded by the Federation of Swedish Farmers, represents a pioneering effort to integrate gender equality into Sweden’s agriculture and forestry industries. With a focus on empowering women and promoting sustainable practices, the initiative directly supports the EU Green Deal’s sustainability goals.

Key activities include:

  • publishing reports analysing gender inequality;
  • conducting stakeholder events to collectively discuss and strategies on overcoming gender disparities;
  • collecting sex-disaggregated data to support in-depth analysis;
  • highlighting women’s roles by advocating for their financial rights and visibility in sector statistics to acknowledge their contributions fully.

The academy is a catalyst for gender equality in Sweden’s agricultural and forestry sectors. It provoked a change in Sweden’s agricultural statistics methodology, leading to more gender-inclusive representation. The academy is a recognised entity that is having tangible results.
