This dynamic workshop will explore how the EU Directive on Violence against Women and Domestic Violence can be an important legal tool for prevention, and for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). We’ll dive into the Directive’s innovative measures and examine how their proper implementation by Member States can directly improve the lives of victims. Through an interactive and practical format, participants will engage with fictional case studies. The workshop will culminate in concrete recommendations on the steps the EU and Member States can take in the next five years to eradicate all forms of SGBV, through the implementation of the Directive, the Istanbul Convention, and beyond. This workshop is jointly organized by the International Planned Parenthood Federation - European Network (IPPF EN), the Center for Reproductive Rights, Amnesty International, Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants (PICUM), ILGA Europe, Eurocentralasian Lesbian* Community (EL*C), End FGM European Network, OII Europe, WAVE, La Strada.
