Description

Artificial impediments and invisible barriers that militate against women’s access to top decision-making and managerial positions in an organisation, whether public or private and in whatever domain.

Additional notes and information

The term ‘glass’ is used because these impediments are apparently invisible and are usually linked to the maintenance of the status quo in organisations, as opposed to transparent and equal career advancement opportunities for women and men within organisations.
